There is nothing quite like standing at the top of a hill and overlooking the prairie landscape while the sun sets for the day ... better yet, enjoying a quick snowshoe with your boys to do it!
Now ... if only we had a bit more snow!!!

No matter how grey, COLD and bleak the winter days can be ... Chickadees always seem to bring warmth and happiness to the scene ... even when huddling amongst the trees!

We can only appreciate the miracle of a sunrise if we have waited in the darkness.
A familiar scene but one that I will never get tired of seeing! I love our winter sunrises ... and how the sun illuminates our trees! It makes our wintery world look so much warmer than it really is! Brrr ... it was -25C this morning!

Sometimes ... winter does both! It certainly felt like winter was biting us with the drop in temperature and lashing us with the gale force winds! It's a good thing the 'Sun Dogs' gave us something pretty to look at! Brrr ... its COLD out there!

A blustery morning with a strong south wind was eventually replaced with a gorgeous pastel sunset that span across the entire prairie horizon for as far as one could see! Our 4-legged gentleman was rather determined to be a part of this 'super sunset' ... with his 'super dog' stance!

After some early morning snow flurries, I crossed paths with this quirky Sharp-tailed Grouse on my way to get feed this afternoon! Grouse are highly entertaining at the best of times but I love when I find them perched in a tree, balancing on a telephone wire or better yet, singing a song while perched on a fence post! Yes, she was singing ... although Song Bird would not be her genre!

Not the most spectacular sunrise by any means but this mornings sunrise was certainly a reality check ... back to school and back to 'regular scheduled LIFE!' ... *sigh!*

Our Christmas holidays came and went in what seems like a flash but then holidays always do seem to end much too quickly!
Here's just a small glimpse of how we enjoyed the days!
I do hope that each of you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas, surrounded by friends and family and I wish you ALL a very healthy and happy New Year! I hope 2015 is a wonderful year for you all!
We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.
